My roommate works for a hotel. A hotel where touring bands stay a lot. So I know these people are definitely neither 'indie' nor cool, but as much as my roommate wanted to hate Joel Madden (from that band Good Charlette) and his wife (or whatever) Nicole Richie, he said they were both really nice during their stay a few days ago, and said their daughter is really cute, and they're good tippers, etc. etc.

This, of course, doesn't top his story of chatting up Cat Power last spring. He said she was cooler, prettier, and taller in real life.
