I thought it was great. If the show wasn't sold out, you sure couldn't tell that from the front row. The Reid brothers can still work it together like they never stopped. Jim's voice may be a bit coarser and William still can't play without watching his fingers, but they definitely sound better than a lot of reunited bands (Pixies and Police, I'm looking at you.) No, they're not 25 year old bad boys anymore, but that's ok. It was pretty cool that they played a solid long set that included many of their hits including several from Psychocandy. I was dying to hear Never Understand and thought for sure that would be what they played for their encore, but I guess they don't perform that song live now. I wonder why not?
And I'm not sure there's a huge overlap in the Mary Chain and Project Runway audiences. If the show didn't sell out it was probably due to the ticket price. Which I thought was totally reasonable, btw.
Those Psychocandy shirts were great but they only had them in two women's sizes. Bummer, I would have picked one up for sure.
