Wow - what a great weekend to finish up May and start June with a smiley grin. This photo by Adamsayswhatt of Gabriel Teodros from the flickr pool sums it up for me.
There were a ton of great shows on the calendar, lots of SIFF goodness, not to mention lots of sunny good times for those who enjoy sunscreen and out of doors activities. I know that a group of us imaginaries volunteered at KEXP on Sunday answering phones and taking pledges during Larry's Lounge (mega fun!).
What did you do?

I had a great weekend - on Friday I caught Built to Spill and Ra Ra Riot on the UW Hub lawn, then Indecisive Rhythm, Perfume and Slackhabit at Blue Moon. Saturday night started at Chop Suey for a terrific Head Like a Kite set and ended again at Blue Moon with Triple Forte.

Amelia - you are such an imaginary superstar overachiever. As evidenced by your photos in the imaginary flickr photo pool - it really was spectacular!

I was also at the Built to Spill / Ra ra riot show on Friday afternoon, although in trying to park and pay the meter and everything I got there too late for Smile Brigade (sorry Chris). Ra Ra Riot was pretty good though, and Built to Spill is one of my favorites, and even though there seemed to be a little technical problems/guitar tuning issues, over all it was a splendid show-especially for the price.
Friday night I went to the John in the Morning at night show with Pela, U.S.E., Iran, and Throw me the Statue. TMTS played some new stuff which sounded pretty good, Iran I wasn't really a big fan of. I read on the KEXP blog that Kyp Malone from TV on the Radio was in the band, but at least for this show he was not there. U.S.E. was dancy and fun as usual. Pela was actually pretty action packed and enjoyable. I was stuck behind the KEXP table in the back all night, but it was free so I can't complain.
much like most of you imaginaries I'll be at KEXP during the pledge drive tomorrow afternoon (and Friday morning). Maybe I'll see some of you there!

I caught Built to Spill at UW, then headed to Vera to see Calvin Johnson. If only they'd played together and had a Halo Benders reunion!

Yeah - the overlapping schedules of those two was a sure tease! That really would have ruled. Oh how I love hearing them do "Virginia Reel Around the Fountain". There are few songs *that* perfect.
