2008 was an interesting musical, and personal, year for me. I listened to a lot of indie rock, electronica and went to a shit-ton of shows (one of which was the best I've ever seen, thanks Of Montreal). I got engaged, interned at two places, continued working full time and started going to school part time. Suffice it to say, in 2008 I was a busy motha f-er.
I had plenty of time to listen to some super tunes though, and here are my picks (in no real order):
Of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping
Magnetic Fields - Distortion
Hercules & Love Affair - Hercules & Love Affair
MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
Silver Jews - Lookout Mountain, Lookout Seat
No Age - Nouns
Department of Eagles - In Ear Park
Raveonettes - Lust Lust Lust
Grand Archives - Grand Archives
El Guincho - Alegranza!
Honorable mentions that almost slid into top ten:
HEALTH - Disco
Karl Blau - Nature's Got Away
Bonnie Prince Billy - Lie Down In The Light
Benga - Diary of An Afro Warrior
Deerhunter - Microcastle
Marnie Stern - This Is It And I Am It...
Deerhoof - Offend Maggie
DJ Rupture - Uproot

I mean, I know there are no real surprises here but there were so many good releases last year.
