I am working on a full live review of the Damien Jurado show at the Triple Door on Saturday night. It was a glorious, transcendent late show, and everyone left dazzled.
It was a hard decision to skip the glorious music at The Stranger Genius Awards (where a lot of my friends actually went and had a great time) at the Moore, but those of us who caught Damien's set (what's up, Kyle Johnson?) were glowing for the rest of the weekend. I HAVE TO hear his new record, from the material he previewed.

I unfortunately didn't get to attend any shows. I did go to the Of Montreal Laser Light Show Listening Party though. It was fun for the first 10 minutes, but per usual laser light show fashion it got real old real fucking fast.
Interesting new record though!

Saw my son and his School of Rock mates play at El Corazon on Friday. The show was a Ramones / Sex Pistols punk show. It as a blast, especially the second set.

I won a karaoke contest and got two passes to Endfest at the EMP Skychurch on Saturday. Everlast played an amazing set. and The Presidents of the United States of America played an acoustic set which was a lot of fun. I also won a chance to hang out with them a bit before the show. They are nice.

I was just talking to my very awesome apartment manager and her cool fella last night about that show! They went too and had a great time. Sounded like a wonderful summer round-up show.

I didn't technically attend any shows as this weekend was full of family and football. But, for halftime at the Hawks' game on Sunday, Alice in Chains took the stage with the Northwest Symphony orchestra. That's right, AIC - with a new dude on vox (Layne, RIP) - rocking out with violins. They played only one song: Led Zep's "Kashmir." This choice was beyond me, as AIC has at least a handful of songs that most of the Hawks' crowd would have recognized, and yet they chose a cover.
The whole experience was, to say the least, a little surreal and a lot head-scratch-inducing.
