Who isn't covering The Ramones these days?
Submitted by ChrisB on October 17, 2008.On Tuesday, the band Fucked Up played a 12-hour marathon show in a New York City store, bringing in lots of guests. One of which was Moby, who joined the band for a cover of The Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop". I have only watched it once so I can't decide whether it is awesome or sucks but it's not "just okay". It is, however, below (and via Stereogum):
Another cover of a Ramones song that I have only heard of (but not heard), via Pitchfork, is a version of "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" being recorded for the show "Gossip Girl" with Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth and Jemina Pearl of Be Your Own Pet (who, as loyal readers know, rocked my 2008 and subsequently broke my heart by breaking up). Although it is sight unseen/unheard, I can't imagine it not kicking ass.
"Ramones cover" turns up 3,630 entries on YouTube, so I'm sure there are some other excellent ones out there. Anyone have any particular favorites?

the misfits' cover of "beat on the brat" = super-rad.

god bless them but it's just OK. the music is close (you got to play fast!) but the out of breath singing...not so hot. the ramones rule and anyone out there paying tribute to them is okay by me. what is it with thurston and these teen girl shows? ugh! i guess it's his daughter's influence. it will be interesting to hear at least.
