Nnnnnooooo! Young Sportsmen are breaking up?!?
Submitted by ChrisB on October 11, 2008.During my lunch break, my friend Jessica sent me a text message today that pretty much killed the good Friday I was having. One of my very favorite northwest bands, The Young Sportsmen have decided to call it a day. I guess this is the karmic reward I get for posting about Pleasureboaters and The Trucks splitting up earlier in the week.
The details are scant right now but the band sent out an e-mail that said:
Yes, you read the subject line correctly. Young Sportsmen are playing two more shows, then we're calling it quits. Please come down and help us celebrate everything that is Young Sportsmen: the music, the energy, Wesley's jokes, and most importantly, the best fans out there. We'd love to celebrate with you, so join us for one or both of our last shows. This is it.
Saturday, October 11

And our last show ever...

Thanks everyone!
I am, of course, quite saddened as I've thoroughly loved listening to The Young Sportsmen and they have been quite kind to me personally.See you all at the last show at the Sunset? I'll be the one drunk and/or crying.

Well, donkey balls. That's a stinker! Their last record was genius.

I know, they are a consistently great live band, and have been so under-appreciated. This is sad news indeed!!

This is ridiculously sad news! I was bummed I had to miss the show this weekend, as it seems I have to miss all of their shows for dumb reasons, and I've only ever seen them once. I will for sure be at the last one.
