Hannah Levin, beloved KEXP DJ and author of Seattle Weekly's music column Rocket Queen, is opening a fancy new bar in Greenwood! It shall be called Gainsbourg (anyone guess who after?) and it shall be located at 8550 Greenwood Ave. N.
Hannah and partner JJ Wandler, also of Asian-inspired chillout bar Tiger Tail in Ballard, have been hard at work exposing brick and covering the bar in zin, at the former Northside Grill location. The cuisine is said to be french and small-plated and the decor will be fab, I'm sure.
Gainsbourgh will be opening the first week of November with beer and wine, with cocktails to be added later. Levin has been quoted several times as of late in regards to her Serge Gainsbourg obsession. I just hope to see a little Jane Birkin action in there as well.

Is it possible to have a new favorite hangout before it even opens? The talents of JJ + Hannah combined guarantee that this is going to be amazing! xo

Fantastic news, and close enough to my neck o' the woods that I can call it 'local'!

Aww, thanks so much guys. We're really excited to be part of that neighborhood. We'll have a small stage in back, so we'll also have some low-key music stuff from time to time. Scott Kannberg (a.k.a. "Spiral Stairs", the former guitarist for Pavement) is a minority partner as well, so keep your ears pricked for some killer "secret" show action. Looking forward to serving you!
