Photographer Callie Shell took candid shots of Obama and family during the entire campaign. These photos show his human side. They're glorious. And while I'm a non-promoter of political things on a non-political site, I had to get these images out there to the indie music-lovin' readers that TIG holds dear.
And while we're on the subject... check out this sweet little interview of a McCain voter. (hint: stupidity still rules the roost)

That cow is nauseatingly stupid. Unfortunately, she's representative of a large part of the American public, which is why I'm moving to New Zealand in a few years.

@Randy -- but what if Obama wins? Are you still leaving us?
@igLiz -- I agree.
@igShrie -- Glad to see you've come over to the dark side of political obsession. Tee hee.

@3: Yes. Even if Obama wins, this country will still be fundamentally religious, conservative, and reactionary, at least compared to most of the rest of the Western world. It's no longer a place that I want to live or can be proud of. And if Obama loses, get ready for even more blatant fascism and the repeal of virtually all social reforms of the last 50 years. It'll just take one more right wing nutjob on the Supreme Court, and you can kiss all your 'rights' goodbye.

@igDana: I know, I know... I'm still not super into it. But I was touched by these photos. And I think it benefits voters by showing them a side of one of the candidates that isn't necessarily out in the open.

Totally -- and hopefully they break down that whole "elitist" argument.

The "elitist" argument won't be broken down ... pretty much, any sort of intellectual thought in this country is seen as "elitist". The US is becoming the nation of the "least common denominator".
