I love Happy Goth music, dark rhythms mixed with sensual female vocals, sinister beats and noise-candy textural guitar. Tonight at Neumos much-adored band M83 will be returning again for their many Seattle fans, but I am just as excited about opening band, Brooklyn's own School of Seven Bells.

I shouldn't be surprised I'm so into SoSB's debut, "Alpinisms," as on songs like "Half Asleep," "My Cabal," and "Wired For Light," Benjamin Curtis shows the same flare for exoticism-meets-MBV pop as was implied by his talented contributions to Secret Machines. Joined by the Deheza sisters, Claudia and Alejandra, their full-length seems like the kitchen sink hymnal break-out of the Arthur Magazine art rock rogue renaissance, and as sweet and gritty as anything on a 4AD sampler from the late 80s/early 90s.

This twinkling two band line up seems irresistible, and might be the first of hopefully more live show highlights of this holiday season.
