Surely this is too wild-ass bonkers to be true: Johnny Depp buying the Croc?
Submitted by imaginary dana on May 8, 2008.Either someone over at Culture Mob is playing an insane blogger joke, or there's a serious rumor flying that Johnny Depp is going to buy the Crocodile Cafe (RIP).
Can there be any truth to this? Or is today some National Spread-A-Celebrity-Rumor holiday of which I am unawares?

How about a fun, completely unsubstantiated rumor for Thursday to keep you going until the weekend?
It’s going around the streets of Seattle like wildfire that Johnny Depp is going to buy the old Crocodile Cafe and make it much, much cooler (and hotter) than it ever was before. This is from several unreliable sources, some of whom were at least partially inebriated at the time of bean-spillage. It’s a juicy one though, and Seattle would LOVE it to be true, am I right? Enjoy.

Seriously though, it would be great if someone with deep pockets bought the Croc, rehired the old staff, fixed the place up a bit and brought it back to it's previous glory.

I used to go to the Viper Room occasionally for secret shows, etc while I was living in LA. I can tell you one thing Depp owning the Croc will bring: $9 & $10 well drinks at the bar and $8 beers while enduring craptastic bands!

Pretty sure Johnny Depp lives in France. And has a very successful movie career and lovely family occupying his time. The chance of this rumor being true seems beyond remote.
