Woot, Chona! These are great! The b&w Stipe photo is particularly dreamy.

After viewing the photo spread by Chona, I am overwhelmed by two emotions:
My hands are tingling with complete and utter jealously. Holy crap the line-up was amazing. If only I had the connections to be close enough to be hit in the face by a mic-stand wielding Cedric Bixler-Zavala.
Of course, the reason Chona has such connections is her incredible skills behind a camera, filling me with pride for her. I have said it many a-time before, and I'll say it again: Chona deserves to be picked up by a publication (ie. paid). The days of her volunteering are near a foreseeable end.
These emotions are probably heightened by the great level of caffeine currently streaming through my veins, as a cup of coffee, tea, and Dr. Pepper mixed with low caffeine tolerance makes one jittery and over dramatic. That's not to say these are not reasonable feelings.

and rachel oh my god, i'd never been more scared in my life...after cedric tried to grab renee's camera, i knew it was time to bow out. i thought he was going to literally jump into the photo pit and strangle one of us after seeing what he did to the video guy's gear and chucking the fan and cymbal and stand into the audience...shiiiiiiiiiit...

How did you manage to get such great pix while everyone else's were mediocre? With the overcast weather, most of the other Sasquatch pix I've seen have been kinda dark and washed out. Color me impressed!
And yeah, that Mars Volta singer was being an absolute douchebag. Someone should have clocked him!

I just now finally got to see your photos Chona (I was a little nervous looking at the Flaming Lips photos at work) and I agree with Randy. All of the other photos I've seen of Sasquatch were okay and yours are stunning. The colors in yours were so vibrant and brought out each performers personalities. I really, really love the Jamie Lidell photos, the Malkmus ones in B&W and the Hives.
As a writer who is so fortunate to have worked on show reviews with Chona (I'd write them and she'd take the pics), I almost love seeing her photos more of shows I didn't go to and review because there's such a vicarious thrill that comes with it.
Major kudos, too, to Stereogum for recognizing how amazing Chona is - something everyone at TIG has known at least since last year's Capitol Hill Block Party.

Chona, when I typed that I hadn't realized he was actually hitting people with things, I just meant it figuratively! Wow, per your comment I searched for video and that is pretty insane. I have to say, I'm sure he was probably throwing stuff at the crowd here in retaliation for the treatment he received last time they were here. Boy, watching him jump from that huge stack of amps...ah, the wonders of speed...
