So our headliner prediction for the Capitol Hill Block Party was wrong...
Submitted by imaginary dana on May 7, 2008.It's not Public Enemy after all.
It's DevotchKa.
Still, not bad.
Other new bands just added include Grand Ole Party, Thee Emergency, and Voyager One.
This to a massive lineup, all of which can be seen in our previous CHBP post... or just check out the nice poster for deets:

I think this is kind of a let-down. Not that I have anything against DeVotchKa (and I really don't) but they were here just a few days ago and played Bumbershoot. I'd just rather it be someone that we see a little less frequently.
Although I was hoping it was Public Enemy (or Prince).

DeVotchKa is a bit more the level of acts that the CHBP is accustomed to getting. Public Enemy would have been amazing, I could see them headlining at Bumpershoot but CHBP doesn't traditionally book acts the stature of PE (or Prince).
I'm with ChrisB, if you're going to hold back a headliner as a big surprise announcement, it shouldn't be a band that was here a week ago and played durring the day at Bumpershoot last year.

im stoked. sure i just saw them. but id see them again asap

Yeah, Devotchka certainly isn't a Murder City Devil's reunion show, nor Sir Mix-A-Lot. But I suppose all the reunion's at SP20 is making up for it.

I was kidding about Prince. I only floated his name because he was playing Coachella and Bonnaroo.
CHBP probably held back DeVotchKa's name so that it didn't hurt ticket sales for their show last weekend, almost surely at someone's request.

That certainly makes both days worth going to, now.
