My money says the special guests are Fleet Foxes.

That's my guess too, Dana! Shall we open a voting pool?
(And Estey, how I miss those Velvet Elvis matinees! More clubs should get on the Sunday afternoon show bandwagon!)

Your money is probably right, Ms. Dana, and my money will be spent on Bloody Marys -- which sadly won't be able to compete with yours, mamma mia, but whattayagonnado?
: )
Yep, Stella, those shows ruled! I think my favorite was Love As Laughter doing a really crunchy set, and I even loved Botch just for the lighting and drama ... that's the thing: I like a drink with a show, but I can easily love the all ages action too. What did YOU love at the VE, IgSistah?

I basically spent every weekend of my teenage years at the VE at myriad hardcore shows, and I admit a lot of those days blur together! But I have really fond memories of the place - it felt like home.
Some of my favorites include Hush Harbor and countless Undertow shows. I always think of Sunny Day Real Estate when I think of the VE, but I don't think I actually ever saw them there (a trick of the aging brain!). It was cool to see Wool and Engine Kid, though I wouldn't necessarily call them my favorite shows. I know I'm missing some really good ones here...
5 Facts About Rob said on May 14, 2008
I'm not saying I know anything... but guesses sometimes can be mysteriously accurate when guessed accurately! (was that vague enough... *laughs*)
it's actually the longest night of really great music i've seen at the Sunset (if you don't include us...)
there's the early show, followed by the late show... all music in the same general vein... essentially a giant post-alt-country-'70s-influenced indie heaven festival marathon of love (whew- that was long)...
********early show********
J TILLMAN (my FAVE performer in seattle)
BATTLE HYMNS
(MYSTERY HEADLINER)
********late show*********
FACTS ABOUT FUNERALS
A WEATHER (BEAUTIFUL reindeer section/delgados like thing from portland on conor oberst's Team Love label)
RADAR BROS. (featuring, jim putnam, one of my fave performers NOT from seattle, on Merge Records...)
i'm there for the whole thing... definitely... fighting chris in the bloody mary line (actually my poison is usually double-Dewars, light ice)
cheers,
rob

Wow, Rob, you're making this a night I can't possibly avoid -- from checking out your band, and all the rest of them! I even really dig the late show's headliner, and you can't beat that.
See you there at the bar, my friend -- this seems like a REAL party.
