Nine Inch Nails: Ghosts I-IV (available now!)

Nine Inch Nails are the latest band to do what Radiohead did last December and release an album themselves with almost no warning whatsoever. Ghosts I-IV is now available via www.nin.com. Here is what Trent Reznor has to say about it on his website:

"I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective — dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."

The new album is available in these formats at the following prices:

Download: $5.00

2xCD: $10.00

Deluxe Edition Package: $75.00

4xLPs: $39.00 (retail version released April 8th, along with a retail version of the 2xCD)

Or you can simply download the first 9 tracks for free if you prefer a sample and think that Trent Reznor has enough money to fund his own endeavors.

This is a pretty good idea as he has managed to fulfill the desires of most digital music fans. There was also a $300.00 Ultra-Deluxe version available that is already sold out. I don't know if this set included vinyl or not, but it is already gone. Damn, who would have guessed?

The 300 dollar version was limited to 2500 copies that, yes, included vinyl as well as a photo book signed by Reznor himself. They sold out I believe the first day this went on sale.

Everyone should get the 5 dollar version and then, after deciding how much they like it, buy the vinyl when it hits retail.

I, for one, enjoy the hell out of it. It's very nice. As though Reznor purposefully set out to do something similar to Eno's ambient series. (naturally, Reznor's is decidedly darker).

It's very good.
