Tonight in Seattle:

Do we need another The Bravery?

I've been perusing the Sunday Drivers' Archetypes EP of late. The easy comparison of their sound is to The Bravery.

I liked The Bravery's first album and even paid money to see them live. The thought The Bravery's second album was 'just OK'. With that said, I like the Archetypes EP. It contains four songs that are easy to listen to and overall enjoyable.

I guess I'm just left with the question, if there's already a band that sounds like this do we need another? Is there anything of their own here that sets them apart? Can they morph into something more?

For your consideration, Sunday Drivers' video for "Endless Summer"

I think we can answer this question without any data: No.

OK, I'm just listening to The Bravery for the first time right now, but I think I will answer your question with another question: Did we need the first Bravery?

the question should be: "do we need another version of another version of the killers?"

so are you going to be the person who calls up the band and says, "hi, society already has a band that sounds just like you so we think you should stop playing the music you just created and call it quits"?

pretty much 98% of the bands in the world sound exactly like a band that has proceeded them...to stop or even discuss stopping this trend is pretty much pointless

i don't know, but the bass player is smokin' hot!

bob is pretty right on... however, sometimes it seems like it would be great if bands that sound like other bands who suck ass would call it quits and give up the good fight.

I agree with Shrie on this one. It is one thing to have influences, it is another to photocopy them.

Yes, smokin hot is a good description of the bass player IMHO.

And it's not like I can't appreciate Sunday Drivers. I'm impressed they got a Bravery sound out of 3 band members when The Bravery has what, 5?

I'd just like to sit them down and tell them that I'd like them enough to hear their own musical stylings....

And no, I don't think we can make this argument too often as indeed, there is no such thing as original anymore. I think it was simply the shock that Sunday Drivers sounded so much like The Bravery it was uncanny....
