My friends...Girl Talk is back!
This morning, Pittsburgh DJ Girl Talk, whose album Night Ripper was the darling of 2006, has just released his newest album Feed the Animals on the internet. I am rejoicing.
This news made me so sublimely happy and that was even before I listened to the album. Everyone, I will make a prediction that this album is going to be the hit of the summer, it's that amazing. I only had to listen to one track to get this feeling. I mean, who else but Girl Talk would mash up the MacBook Air song with Eminem???
Illegal Art's website has the album for DL. It's pay what you want. 10 bucks gets you a physical copy of the album as well as the DL.
I can barely contain myself. I want to bust a million moves in my cubicle right now and I don't care who sees me.

Damnit! Beat me to the punch.
I love how when you type in "$0.00" it gives you these choices:
-I may donate later
-I can't afford to pay
-I don't really like Girl Talk
-I don't believe in paying for music
-I have already purchased this album
-I don't value music made from sampling
-I am part of the press, radio, or music industry
-Other reasons
Thank God I can put "press" because otherwise I'd look like a real bastard. So excited to hear this!

Jon:
1. "I have already purchased this album," doesn't sound like an answer a real or fictional bastard would give. It's what I said, but then again, I'm kind of a bastard, unrelatedly so though.
2. There are a lot of members of the press who are bastards. Examples: Michelle Malkin, Anthony Lane, SPIN Magazine (not including Killing Yourself To Live era Klosterman), Peter Gammons, Fox Noise.

Yeah, I suppose 'bastard' and 'press' are more often than not one in the same.
I love love love Klosterman, by the by.

It's strange. I've never heard Girl Talk before, had no idea what the whole concept was about or anything, but had no problem giving them $10.00 just to support them. Would I have bought the album a year ago? Not sure. I think there's something changing in the way I view buying music again.
It helped that everyone and their mother recommended the album.
Also: this isn't remotely what I expected. So far I like it, but I couldn't have gone into this any more in the dark.

i'm not really a girl talk fan, but i thought the questionnaire part was cute and clever. it should be prefaced by: "why aren't you paying for this, cheapskate?"
i co-sign the klosterman love. dude is great.

O. M. G.
On "Hands In the Air," they mash up Yo Majesty and Michael Jackson:
"Fuck that shit / fuck that shit / fuck that shit said fuck that shit / Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa / Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa / fuck that shit said fuck that shit..."

Douglas at 5: Girl Talk rips. I saw him at Chop Suey and was blown away. As far as shakin' your ass (show me what you're workin' with) there is nothing better.

Best. Show. Ever.

Let's not forget Capitol Hill Block Party last year.
So he's playing this year too, but I just realized he's not closing at Neumo's like last time...

shrie: a good friend of mine saw girl talk a couple years ago and said it was literally the most insane event [musical or non-] that she's ever been to.
maybe a little ass-shaking is what i need to get into the music.

The live show is a lot more fluid/danceable than his albums is what I've noticed. It's hard to mash that much stuff and change beats and rythms and be 100% smooth about it and I think he really repolishes that aspect when he "performs" live.

Douglas @ 10: Well get out there and start shakin' baby... because the time has never been better.
