Monday check-in... what did you do this weekend?

Did anyone travel north to the What the Heck Fest and have dinner with Calvin Johnson? Or was it all about staying indoors with The Dark Knight and Mamma Mia (admit it, you sang along!).

I prepped for the Capitol Hill Block Party this weekend by listening to Mika Miko and ManPlus as I accidentally broke and fixed things around my place.

What did you do? Tell us aaaallll about it.

I went camping just past North Bend along the Snoqualmie in the amazingly beautiful weather, while blasting my crackhead camping neighbors with Broken Social Scene, Mylo, Benga and Bonnie Prince Billy.

Cori & I went to What The Heck Fest in my fine hometown of Anacortes. It's also Shipwreck days in Anacortes and that is usually the highlight of the weekend (12 blocks of garage sale junk right down the main street of town!).

We did see some good music though. Karl Blau was amazing at City Hall on Friday night.

There was music in Causland Park all day Saturday, but I can't remember the name of any band we saw. And we ended the night with an AWESOME sweaty dance party to The Coconut Coolouts before catching a ferry back to Guemes Island for the night.

Sunday morning we went to Andersons General Store on Guemes and enjoyed breath taking views from our Picnic Table while listening to a band from Pt. Townesend (can't remember name) which was followed by Dennis Driscoll.

So much fun!

I camped in Anacortes, making the jaunt to and from Heck Fest.

As JFlores mentioned, my fav was Karl Blau playing with some locals(?). It was superb, got the tinglies a bit.

My brother brought his HD cam, and got some great footage. Any of you 3IG's wanna use some of it for posts?

What got me was the time and dedication of the whole fest. The tickets? ridiculous. Show booklet? genius. Everything was hand pressed - art was incredible. I would've paid 4x the amount for tix due to the authenticity.

I wish more people went to enjoy this one-in-a-million festival, but that's what makes it so.

Was anyone in the Brown Lantern Friday nite for the Love Tan...? I'm not gonna knock 'em (ops) but it was a hilarious show.

I hung out at home mostly. Spent time with friends and recorded a new song.

I saw both The Dark Knight and Mamma Mia! (and, no, I didn't sing along). I did like them both quite a bit, to be honest.

With TDK, all of the hyperbole, I think, is pretty justified. It really is one of the best "Hollywood" movies I've ever seen.

MM! was a different sort altogether and I sort of wish I saw them back-to-back (w/ MM! right after TDK). The premise is flimsy (one comment I read on Rotten Tomatoes said something like they were unsure why the idea of DNA testing was kept from Sophie). None of that really mattered because everyone on-screen and everyone was having such a good time that the plot/script problems were gleefully swept under the rug.

I saw Hoquiam (Damien and Drake Jurado) at the Q Cafe. It put me at ease.
