Was anyone else greeted with this sad message today upon clicking their Facebook Scrabulous link today?
Scrabulous is disabled for US and Canadian users until further notice. If you would like to stay informed about developments in this matter, please click here.
I can only hope it was a temporary thing (I am really kicking my sister's butt in one game... but then again, I'm getting my own what-for from my friend Jen) but now there's a news story saying it might be a while before I can put my W, H, and K to good use!
Scrabulous suspended on Facebook
The authorized Facebook Scrabble launched in July. The developers of the popular Facebook application Scrabulous have suspended the game for some users following legal action by toy maker Hasbro.(more...)

Yea, Hasbro has been talking about it for awhile. But they wanted to wait to shut Scrabulous down until they were in the final stages of developing their own scrabble application for facebook.

I had 27 games going. I heard there had been litigation pending for a very long time, including a "cease" order. The real Scrabble is very jealous because Scrabulous made Scrabble playable again for millions... Something Scrabble had failed to do even with its own online version.
Anytime Liz. I'm up for a match. In the real world or the imaginary one.

Thanks Daniel! I downloaded the Scrabble Beta to my facebook page, but haven't tried it yet... has anyone else tried it? Is it as quick and easy to jump into? And will "Oz" please be a word on Scrabble Beta? And "co" would also be a welcome edition. I need my C's to have more flexibility in usage.

And I just went to go start up a game, and this is what I got from the Scrabble Beta folks:
We'll be back up shortly ...
We're working on some tech problems and Scrabble will be ready to play as soon as possible!
We appreciate all the great feedback we've received over the past week and as a result we're making changes to Scrabble for its official launch in mid-August, including a streamlined app with the option to turn-off animations for faster gameplay and full keyboard functionality for those who prefer this way to play.
Please continue to let us know how we can make Scrabble - the best word game on Facebook - even better!
- The Scrabble Team
(LAME! If you're going to take our Scrabulous away you might as well make sure the bugs are worked out.)

Even at 22 years old, I sometimes live under an Internet rock to the equivalent of an old woman--including having never looked at Facebook ever.
This is the second place I've seen the "bad news" about Scrabulous going away, but could someone tell me what it is? I'm assuming an online version of the board game?

I tried that new version of Scrabble - before it fell offline for the past 48 hours. Now with that and no Scrabulous, I'm truly Scrabble-less. It's killing the word-nerd inside me!

it was the only reason i joined facebook. i had about 10 games going at any given time. i refuse to use the "official" version because i think the killing of scrabulous is a perfect example of corporations not understanding internet culture. it sucks. i noticed today the entire application has been completely removed from facebook.

Scrabulous is back. The same people who made scrabulous just came out with the Word-Scraper application. It's like it's predecessor only with a cool new game mode called word scraper blitz.
Wow, It sounds like I'm running an ad for them or something.
