If you like hip-hop...
Submitted by Jon Harthun on July 30, 2008....then holy mother of God I've got a tour for you. Beginning this past Saturday continuing on through Sept. 6th (coincidentally booked at the Gorge), the Rock the Bells tour will be making your hip-hop dreams come true.
So who's on the Gorge bill you ask?
A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, MF Doom, Spank Rock, Sage Francis, The Pharcyde, Jedi Mind Tricks, Afrika Bambaataa, De La Soul, Blue Scholars... the list goes on.
Unfortunately artists like Redman, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface, Immortal Technique, and Dead Prez, who are playing other dates, aren't showing up on the ampitheater's bill as of yet.
My suggestion to Washington residents? Spend the money for gas and hit up a date in California.
Tickets appear to be (assuming they will stay the same price as the Miami show) $55 for general admission, and $175 for VIP status if you want special access to parties, drinks, posters, t-shirts, backpacks, special seating and last but not least, a meet and greet with A Tribe Called Quest!

that sounds badass... i want to go to music fest nw too but we'll see how that shapes up. douglas, do you know if music fest nw will be super crowded?

I really want to see Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, Afrika Bambaataa and, of course, Nas.

shrie, wristbands are going super-fast. i'm sort of relying on one of my buddies from willamette week to hook it up, so i'm sort of up-in-the-air as far as whether or not i'm really even going to be able to get one.
chris, tribe's show is phenomenal. seeing the pharcyde and bambaataa(!) would be awesome, too. i saw nas, and he was okay. i saw mf doom at chop suey, and it was great. and it was really doom and not one of those alleged impostors. who knows who if it'll really be him at the gorge.

p.s. shrie, a few of my portland friends are saying that this is probably going to be the largest attendance in MFNW history. so, yeah. it's going to be stupid packed.

if i weren't going to music fest NW, i'd be all over this. tribe at bumbershoot was the best hip-hop show i had ever been to.
