Tonight in Seattle:

Capitol Hill Block Party 2008: Secret Performances!

You won't find these performances promoted on the official Capitol Hill Block Party website, but they're going down all the same. The Cha Cha Lounge (below Bimbo's, yo) has a lineup of local bands you've been meaning to see this year.

Friday

Das Llamas @ 9:45
T.V. Coahran @ 8:45
Yes, Oh Yes @ 7:45
TacocaT @ 6:45
Fences @ 5:45

Saturday

Wild Orchid Children @ 9:45
Triumph of Lethargy @ 8:45
Weirdlords @ 7:45
See Me River @ 6:45
Kaylee Cole @ 5:45

This weekend may be only time you can see both Das Llamas and See Me River on the same bill. Friday is the final performance for Das Llamas: guitar player Aaron Everett is going to law school in Indiana. Das Llamas lead Kerry Zettel is continuing on in his other group, See Me River. Which by the way also includes Kellie Paine from Weirdlords. Starting to look almost incestuous, no?

Thanks for posting this Jeanine! I knew about those performances but I wonder if anyone knows who the 10:30-11:30 on Saturday at Neumo's. This might be (hint, hint) a good place to give any rumors or insider info or irresponsible guesses.

Maybe it'll be the Built to Spill-Modest Mouse jam session Doug Martsch said he'd be interested in doing.

...I wish!

If I'm reading The Stranger's CHBP guide correctly, I know who the secret guest is Saturday (K)night - and you should definitely check it out.

Thanks ChrisB!

They're playing two songs at the Top Pot for a donut eating contest at 2pm that same day, put on by Light in the Attic.

Here's the flyer if anyone wants a double dose on Saturday (K)night:

Ohhh, right on! The Saturday Knights put on a fun show.

Is it really a CHBP "Secret Performance"... or did they just happen to book them that night, ala the Cock Block Party at The Comet?

I was told there was a secret show happening on Saturday night at a certain DIY venue located on the same block as Block Party, with No Age and Mika Miko. However, as they always say, cross-check your rumor references, and sure enough--it couldn't be because they will be playing together in Oregon. HOWEVER, Mika Miko is playing at CHBP proper Friday afternoon, and No Age does have a date listing ???? for Friday here in Seattle, so...perhaps there will be a secret Capitol Hill basement warehouse show happening after all, just on Friday?

Damn being impatient and resulting in double posting

yeah no age, mika miko, and abe vigoda are saying they are playing a house show at that location...

friday night

does anyone know the address? i didn't stick around long enough after their show to go ask them...
