Tonight in Seattle:

Another one biting the dust: Chubby & Tubby

Local landmark Chubby & Tubby, long known as the best place in these parts to get Christmas trees and Chuck Taylors, is scheduled for demolition. The shop's been closed for some time now, their large sign haunting and taunting along Aurora Ave. Still, I'm sad to see it'll soon be gone for good.

Isn't it the Chubby & Tubby on Rainier Ave. that is being demolished, not the one on Aurora?

Regardless of which, it's too bad. :-|

Isn't the Aurora one in tact as Stupid Prices or some such?

Oh, doh! Maybe I should actually read the article in full before I blog about it. Sorry, guys -- you are right, it is the one on Rainier Ave that's being knocked down. Thanks for catching my glitch!

It's only because I live in South Seattle and occasionally drive/ride the bus past that one's "haunting and taunting" sign. :]

Ha! No worries, Chris. I was all amped up on my free Slurpee anyway ;).
