I listened to the Los Campesinos album very loudly and very legally, whilst mulling over my essay. Fun times.

Friday I saw the fantastic Karl Blau perform at the Dearborn gallery (which is conveniently located only a few blocks from my house) with my friend and new musical fascination, Craig Salt Peters. It was awesome.

I'll never shop there, but your American Apparel ads satisfy my porn needs.
Thanks TIGirls.

Nothing fun for me over the weekend... Just cleaning our house getting it ready to put on the market this week.
But, ask me about what I'm doing tomorrow -- taping an episode of HGTV's "My House Is Worth What?" That should be more interesting than your average Tuesday! :)

That's so cool Gary -- I'm an HGTV junkie. I'd love to meet Tanya Memme one day - she's so rad.

Oh my. We've just started watching those terrible/wonderful HGTV shows where we find out that we are the antithesis of the average homebuyer. I hate beige and off-white, dammit! Let us know when you'll be on, will ya Gary?

Gary @ 4 - I just read yesterday that you were moving (from a MySpace bulletin from one of your bands). It was, of course, quite a shock. I know I won't be the only one here who will miss you.
Please do let us know when you're on.
I hope that we get to read about the blossoming North Carolina powerpop scene soon!

Getting on HGTV was a lark. Just randomly filled out an application online. Then got asked to submit an "audition tape" (tour of our house), and then got picked!
It's a happy accident that we're taping two days before listing our house. We're hoping the tag line "recently filmed for HGTV" will be a nice marketing hook to get people to come look at our place.
Chris @ 7, thanks for the kind words. SPB won't be dying (I just posted about it there). I'm sure I'll get something up and running in Chapel Hill. Hey... maybe TIG needs a Chapel Hill correspondent. Liz? Dana? Char? Anyone? :)

We had an AMAZING birthday party at The Blue Moon with Skeletons with Flesh on Them, Thunderbird Motel, and Our Super Secret Special Guests - Thee Emergency.
The Blue Moon was packed, the music was loud and sounding better than ever, it was an insane lovefest, and I was definitely correct in describing Thee Emergency as my favorite band, EVER. Phenomenal set.
Thanks so much for the kind words about it Liz!
And Chona, I loved seeing what you did with a fish-eye lense... your shots turned out amazing! (though I had no doubt they would.)

I sat in a bar and watched the Seahawks lose. Then I listened to Jonny Greenwood's excellent score for _There Will Be Blood_, drank some red wine, and sang along with Stephin Merritt on "Too Drunk to Dream":
"Sober, life is a prison / shitfaced, it is a blessing."

Jason Webley with Reverend Peyton and his Big Damn Band at the Tractor Saturday night - loudest, wildest, most generous crowd I've seen in a while. Fallen dancers helped up with a slap on the back, screaming and laughter and singing galore. Where have the too-hip-to-breathe Seattle audiences gone? Asphyxiated? Glad for the change!
Fries with tartar sauce at Hattie's pre, Beth's post (wherefore the 24 hour diner?). Tipsy caterwauling in between. Hurrah!
