Replacements cover night / Kim Warnick benefit at the Comet
Submitted by imaginary dana on January 28, 2008.This Tuesday, January 29th, the Comet is hosting a special benefit for Seattle rock icon Kim Warnick (The Fastbacks, Visqueen) in the form of a Replacements cover night. Here are the deets:
Jim Walsh is coming to town to do a reading for his excellent new Replacements bio ("The Replacements: All Over But the Shouting: an Oral History") on Tuesday, January 29. To commemorate the occasion in other cities, he's put together 'mats tribute nights, which have proven to be really fun.
We're doing one in seattle at the Comet, but to put a unique stamp on ours we're making it a benefit for Kim Warnick.
The following local musicians will be performing.
Thee Sgt Major III - Love Battery - The Small Change - John Ramberg - Jared Clifton - Massy Ferguson - Andrew Mckeag and Ben London - Joe Reineke and Scott Kannberg
The doors open at 8p and cover is only $6, so get on down to the Comet for a great cause!

I think I fell down a well and missed something. Why does Kim Warnick need a benefit show? (This isn't meant to sound snarky. I honestly don't know!)

@stella -- I actually don't know either, and the press release I got didn't specify the need for the benefit. Anyone have the imaginary scoop?

I was almost certain that this was mentioned on the blog here, but I couldn't find anything. Apparently she needed to have surgery last October but, like all too many people in the music community, didn't have health insurance. Here's one entry I found that has *some* info.
