Tonight in Seattle:

I'll use any excuse I can to post a Neutral Milk Hotel video

As reported on the Glorious Noise blog, Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel) got married!

Here's their report / confirmation:

Congratulations to Jeff Mangum and Astra Taylor, who were recently married. Mangum, as everybody knows, founded Neutral Milk Hotel, whose album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is widely regarded as one of the best albums of the 1990s. Taylor is a writer and filmmaker who directed the documentary, Zizek! for which Neutral Milk Hotel drummer Jeremy Barnes provided the original music. Glorious Noise received confirmation of the nuptials from Ms. Talyor via email. "It's a fact," she said.

Is there any better reason to post a Neutral Milk Hotel / Jeff Mangum video to celebrate? I think not.

And for the purist who loves seeing him full band stylee (the drummer and trombone players are fun to watch) and doesn't mind the slightly wacky sound in the beginning (it gets better after the first few seconds):

And tell me you didn't get chills when he held that note at the 5 min mark (on the first video featured above). Holy ZOW!

Yep that is seriously impressive! It's funny, we had a Squaregirls show last night, and Kristen played "Song Against Sex" (my favorite Neutral Milk Hotel song) during her DJ set. I wonder if she knew...

NMH are at the top of my list... there is just something about them that tugs at you. Thanks for the vids!

I love that song... I ran into that video recently on YouTube.. *swoon*

dangit. i guess this puts to rest my ongoing fantasy of jeff mangum passing me on the street and immediately being taken by my charm and wit and, um, yeah.
sigh.
