In news that will make you do a guitar kick and shotgun a PBR, the awe-inspiring Gil Mantera's Party Dream is releasing a new album, which, more importantly, means a tour! The single, Ballerina, is available on MySpace http://www.myspace.com/partydream or www.pureuphonic.com
Not to get all hyperbolic, but if you have not witnessed the majesty that is the Party Dream, you have yet to be complete as a human being.
Dig, if you will, this image: a beardy Jim Morrison-y lookin cat who calls himself Ultimate Donny, who speaks almost exclusively in non-sequiters and stories about Spiderman and Papa Smurf fistfights, joined by his tall blond brother in Terminator shades, a vocoder, and the both of them shirtless and beergutted in Spandex that would make Brett Michaels, Kip Winger, and Vincent Neil weak with envy.
Seriously, check these guys out. Take a look at the website and bask in the awesome. Then, go see them. They need the love.

Oh I've seen Gil Mantera's Party Dream a few years ago - they were at Neumo's and I can't remember who they were opening for (Art Brut, perhaps?). I don't remember much except that they were an absolute riot. I think I described Ultimate Donny's attire to friends as "Amish biker" that night.
I didn't think they were still around. Yay! If they make it back to Seattle, I'll see you there Mimi!

I think it was Art Brut. It took me 5 songs - but by the end I was a fan. Crazy stuff.

It totally WAS Art Brut!
The two go together like peanut butter and rad!
As soon as I heard the first vocordered line of "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac, I was sold.
I saw them the next year at Sunset in Ballard and Donny was out of his freakin mind. At one point his bro had to talk him down, and he looked like he actually meant it.
Good times!
The music isn't outstanding by any sense of the word, but the live performances are where it's at for sure!

Yeaaaah Party Dream!
If you can ever see them with frequent-tour-mates Grand Buffet, it will entirely blow your mind. Either band on their own is superb. I would go well out of my way to see this show.
