Better known as Gina Genius of feminist hip-hop duo, Team Gina, Gina Young’s latest solo album takes things back to her riot grrrl folk guitar roots. 3AM Voice features distinctively clever lyrics that are blunt, brutally honest, and at times deliciously bitter. But Gina keeps it cool, delivering her catty lines with such charm and charisma, you can’t help but smile.

I especially like “Quantum Physics and Me,” “Too Cool To Cry,” and “Assholes and Liars.” Although I still prefer Team Gina, Gina Young’s solo effort is a collection of lovely basement folk songs that will have you humming sweet little melodies all day long.
