Hot Chip were great. The put a set together that leaned almost exclusively on their new release In The Dark and although I was disappointed that they didn’t play much from Coming on Strong or The Warning (we did get “And I Was A Boy From School” and “Over and Over”, no real complaints) the tracks from In The Dark really shined live. “Hold On” was especially tight, played darker, harder, faster and more synthed up than the album version. My only complaint was with the encore where they played all slow tracks. It was cool when the started out with Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” that lead into “Made in the Dark” but it didn’t really leave me wanting more. If they would have closed with a big dancehall version of “The Warning” or something a little more up-tempo, it would have moved into “show of the year” territory.
