Tonight in Seattle:

What shows did you see this weekend?

Anything good? Anything bad? Anything in-between?

Do share!

Arthur & Yu at the Tractor on Wednesday night. It was fantastic!

Ooh, I really like that record! I'm glad to hear it translated so well to a live show (and not surprised). I saw that The Finest Kiss posted a really cool photo from the show to Flickr... check it out!

I didn't see any shows except the RED SOX WINNING THE AL CHAMPIONSHIP!

SOX vs. ROX. This week will be looong for me.

i saw the akron family at the crocodile and the woggles at the funhouse...

the akron family totally challenged all of my stereotypes and i enjoyed it a lot more than i initially expected - they busted out classic wookie jam, irish folk and even a little hip hop - all 7 band members sing and most play more than one instrument - yes, including cowbell...don't dismiss them as just another jam band!

the woggles have been around for about 20 years and are a little long in the tooth, but they also surprised me - i've not seen such an energetic, creative set in a long time - they're a 60's garage throwback and their frontman, the professor, looks like a cross between timothy leary and one of the hale bopp cult members, and incorporated the entire bar as his stage - also highly enjoyed and recommended...

Just got back from Justice at the Trocadero in Philly. Really fun house music. Heavy, heavy, driving bass. Very young crowd, very high energy, ready to dance. The Troc turns out to have been a great venue for them. Opener was Midnight Juggernauts, who tried hard but didn't quite win me over. I would love to see Justice in Europe!

The Valley blew away the Sunset friday night -- incredible.
Love the EP, saw them first time @ Tractor a couple weeks ago (superb show). But they were even more incredible at the Sunset -- totally on fire.

CANNOT WAIT FOR FRIGHTENED RABBIT TOMORROW NIGHT!!

Awesome & Sean Nelson at the Vera (for Awesome's CD release party) were also fabulous Saturday night.

I was trying to see the new Clooney movie this week but didn't quite make it.

Brad at Neumo's on Friday. Shawn Smith rocked. Stone Gossard sang a Woody Guthrie song.

Viva Hate opened for Sick of it All and Madball at Studio 7. Viva Hate Rocked.

Friday night, I saw Keith McCarthy playing solo acoustic, and Frankie and Kelly McGrath (of maybe pete) playing duo (mostly) acoustic at the Twisted Tree Cafe in Asbury Park, NJ. They're all Asbury Music Award nominees, and they rocked the walls!!!

Saturday night, I saw John Eddie and his band BLOW THE ROOF OFF Havana in New Hope, PA!!! The show was a celebration of Kid Rock covering one of John's songs on his new CD, and the boys came to party! Great night!!!

JessicaSeattle knows it. The Valley @ The Sunset Friday was the bomb.

I saw Kickstart at Redline in West Seattle Friday 10/19. They're a classic rock and hard rock cover band (like KZOK meets KISW) and they pretty much kicked ass.

I saw Born Anchors and Post Harbor at the Comet.
both were great. was a lot better than whatever was going on next door at Sugar.

I was covering the Dashboard Confessional show last night at Showbox SoDo with John Ralston and Augustana. Chris put on a brilliant show, pics will be up on my site soon!!!!

The Moondoggies Friday Night @ the Blue Moon, haven't been there in a while and stepping inside was like any bar in Idaho and Montana...great set!

yes! arthur & yu and great lake swimmers was a beautiful show.

Saw the AVERAGE WHITE BAND this weekend at Jazz Alley... those guys tore it up! I know, I know they haven't been relevant for like 30 years, but they can still play and their music sounds funkin' great. Last time I saw them was at Bumbershoot about 10 years ago and, if possible, they sound even better, tighter now. As a long-time fan it was nice to see those cats doin' what they do. And doin' it well.

Plus my wife stumbled into the green room after the show and caught an eyeful of pantless AWB. sweet.
