Tonight in Seattle:

Paste Magazine goes the way of "The Radiohead Effect"

Paste MagFor the next two weeks, Paste Magazine is letting readers choose their own subscription price!

New subscribers can sign up, and loyal subscribers can renew online at PasteMagazine.com for a minimum payment of $1 (though, like with the Radiohead album, all are encouraged to pay what they think the subscription is worth). Anyone paying more than the usual $19.95 Paste typical one-year subscription will be thanked in print in a future issue of the magazine.

And it's not just a one-per-person thing. Folks can order multiple subscriptions to Paste, as long as there is a valid mailing address. Gift subscriptions encouraged!

Each issue of Paste comes with a CD sampler, so one subscription will give you 11 CDs, in addition to the usual music, etc coverage.

(Thanks to Lincolnish for the scoop!)

this is a great idea for a magazine because they can charge more for advertising as their circulation rate increases. i don't think their quality will stay consistent, it will definitely have more advertisements (maybe gq magazine percentages), but hey... $1 for 12 issues.

If all other independent magazines follow circulating freedom of the press, we may have found the secret club to properly swat Murdoch on the head.
