I saw a great and unique show this weekend at Seattle Center. I went out to check out the Utsav, South Asian music fest. And I ended up seeing a great performance of little kids dancing their hearts out to fast and funky bhangra music. It was super duper fun and the kids danced with a zen-like mix of totally earnestness and complete relaxation. This performance was choreographed by the Lavani Folk Dance group (?) I think. It was so good that they had the kids do it again, due to audience demand. There was also some great dancing by the Rhythms of India bhangra dance troop. Normally I am more interested in music, but these were some really fun dance performances so I felt I had to let the world know!
Cheers!

That description sounded totally awesome. I'm all for dancing!
I really wanted to see NPSH and I would have, but I hit up KTUB for some young & local enthusiatic rock talent. But right when I parked my car to walk when, guess what played on KEXP? Yep Yep, it was "Iceage Babeland." That made me sad. But it was still a super fun night!

OK. I got my review in. :-)
I was also lucky enough to see Justice at Neumo's on Friday night. That was just incredible. Justice was so damn good you almost couldn't notice that it was like 150 degrees and we were all packed like sardines in there.

Saw Bat For Lashes at the Croc on Sunday Nite
Tom Yorke was rite these lasses are the next best thing!
what sucked was the staff set up a tennis net to seperate the kids from the adults or the drunks from the sober people but unity prevailed with the capacity crowd singing along and cheering them on.
went early to pre-purchase tix but was turned away due to the staffs inability to handle a sold out ghostland observitory show.
thats what you get at the Crocodile Cafe
Really Bummed that I missed Ms.Led with Shorthand For Epic
show do to Terry's Birfday partay
woulda been nice to see them before they supposedly split up. wanted to be in the video Ms.Led was shooting for her new single from her really splendid new Cd!!!
All in all it was a really fantastic weekend for local shows, best I can remember in a long time!!!!

I'm kicking myself (hard) for not catching the Shout Out Louds this weekend. I have no idea how I missed that they were playing at Chop Suey. ARGH!

The first round of the Bodog Battle of the Bands was this Saturday and Sunday at Studio 7. Last year Seattle's own Fall From Grace won the million dollar recording contract so expectations from Bodog were running high. Unfortunately I think the attention FFG received brought out A LOT of metal bands and the competition overall lacked the quality of music that made last year so exciting. Sundays show was much better and provided a wider array of talent but overall the turn out was disappointing. The competition heads to Portland this week and so far the list of bands from out sister city is proving to be a better pool of talent.

I saw Jason Webley at the Underground Coffeehouse up here at WWU. He was suppose to be at a bigger venue, but AS demoted him so Jimmy Eat World could play. Anyway, the UCH was packed (it was free afterall) so there were a bunch of people waiting to get in by the elevators... so many, Jason Webley felt bad for us and played a 3 song acoustic set for us that included a lot of stomping and group singing as substitution for his band. I got into the actual show later and it was AWESOME.

Ghostland Observatory at the Crocodile was such a blast, they truly are an amazing live band. The sound went out twice though, I guess they rock too hard. Aaron's got some sick dance moves.
Check out a clip of their performance here:
