24 percent

The President's popularity hit a new all-time low this month, scoring a 24% approval rating on the most recent Reuter's/Zogby poll. This rating is down five points from last month's all-time low rating of 29% approval.

I'd like to think the Walla sitch, in part, accounts for this staggeringly low score.

Though really, what's most astonishing to me is that nearly one in four Americans still thinks he's doing a swell job? Huh.

I really think the Presidents popularity went out the window with that whole 'Peaches' ninja video thing. They just looked like such idiots.

Approval ratings are pretty much a meaningless gauge of anything when the country is in turmoil. Congress has equally low approval ratings, so apparently nobody likes anyone in Washington, Democrat or Republican. In fact, I tend to think that it is all this constant polling by news agencies and what not that are a large part of the problem. Why do we have to know this data? Does it help the country in any way? First we need to stop the "horse race"/"popularity contest" mentality in the press, then we need to get rid of this mucked-up two party system.

Which is why, I'm voting Colbert in 2008.

Well, now that he pretty much threatened, in no uncertain terms, to start WWIII with Iran, he better brace himself for another slump. Fucking nutcase.

I think Erik is right there is generally an anti-government sentiment now. But, the dems haven't helped their case at all. Pelosi and Reid suck.

As for the president's rating, it's rediculously low. Nixon was at 24% just before resigning. But, the only way I'd support Bush resigning at this point is if Cheney and Pelosi both went with him. In fact, I'm not sure how far down the line of succession we'd have to go for me to be happy....
