Amy Winehouse threatens crowd and the Pipettes almost catch fire!
Submitted by Erik Gonzalez on November 15, 2007.It would be funny if... OK, I think it's just funny, but I suppose to balance the global budget of loony female singers, Amy Winehouse is perilously close to becoming "Britney UK" these days. In fact, the BBC reports that Amy was booed off stage during the opening night of her UK tour and proceeded to threaten the audience when they booed her husband, who, by the way, is currently in jail accused of witness tampering.
Back stateside, the much less controversial Pipettes seem to be much hotter than Amy lately -- hot enough to set a monitor on fire onstage! No one was injured during the Boston show, but it had to get cut short. {Hat tip to NME for that}.
And if the Pipettes couldn't get cuter, here they are in cartoon form!

That's great news Betsy -- I was actually kind of wondering why we hadn't heard it from you first. Please promise you'll twitter us if there's any explosions, fires, foul smells or craziness tonight. Say hi to ROSAY!

My friend in Boston called me and was laughing at how absurd the situation was, he was like, "i'm 2 feet away from Rosay and there's a fire!!!!"

A monitor started smoking and almost caught fire during the Hold Steady show at the UW last week. Crazy shit; I was getting ready to run.

How scary! The only remotely similar story I have is when I was dragged to go see Kiss at the Tacoma Dome in '96, they wouldn't let anyone in the stadium smoke... but they let the band set of pyrotechnics, and they caught one of the rafter beams on fire.
Talk about terrifying. Could you imagine, perishing at a Kiss concert in the Tacoma Dome??? *shudder*

The only thing worse would be surviving a Kiss concert in the Tacoma Dome!
(Sorry, couldn't resist;)

Ok everyone, Betsy's alright. I wasn't at this Boston show (I didn't even know of it — apparently it was some kind of charity thing). I know you were all concerned for my well-being when you read this. I will be seeing them tonight, and I'm ready to stop, drop and roll if necessary.
