I spent this weekend drinking loads of juice and hot soup, napping, and getting cozy with my box of three-ply Puffs. Bleh! I finally feel like I'm coming out the other side of a nasty winter cold so I'm happy.... but there were so many good shows I missed this weekend that I'm sad. I need a vicarious rock and roll thrill.
What shows did you all see? Did you make it to either (or both) of our TIG presents shows with Fishboy? Did anyone catch Scotland Yard Gospel Choir on Friday night? Tell me tell me tell me all about the rock and roll fun I missed....

Fishboy and Tullycraft in Anacortes were incredible! The whole atmosphere was :] The rock kept us warm in the 20 degree temperatures!

I got to finally see Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings at the Doug Fir on Friday night...oh my goodness... It was incredible. You really need to see this band when they come back to the NW.

Wow, I *just* posted ChrisB's wonderful review of that show, in which he proclaimed, "It was easily the best show I was at this year and one of the best I’ve seen yet."
I saw the Dap Kings play with Amy Winehouse at SXSW and likewise thought they were INCREDIBLE.

I went to the double Fishboy shows... they were both bunches of fun. Thanks to everyone for coming out!
Friday night at the Comet was jam packed with tons of good times. The bands were so solid that I didn't even get the wee-ist bit tired over the late-starting four-band bill. It was great to see folks dancing along to Fishboy's Albatross.
Even though they went on after 12.30am, BOAT put on one of the best shows yet. There were ladies dancing provocatively and the audience shouting of "REPTILE BOY" was fantastic. And so many folks I’ve been wanting to catch up with / meet were there! Jason, ChrisB, Deborah (who I finally got to meet in person!), Sean Nelson, Shane, Dave, Chris, Cori, Keenan, Chris (ok, half the folks there were named Chris)… oh the hilarity.
On Saturday night at the Department of Safety, (as Kiku said) - it was cold. The cool Cruisin Coffee around the corner was the perfect remedy. I got tea but that hot chocolate (with whipped cream) that Kiku brought back looked heavenly (to both my cold-hating and chocolate-loving sides). Tullycraft was great - guitar/melodica playing Cori even charged into the audience midsong and jumped started the dancing. And they played "Every Little Thing" - a song from the last album they rarely rarely ever play.
Both nights Eux Autres were great. The highlight was that I was able to pick up the handscreenprinted limited edition Christmas single of theirs (“Where the champagne’s on tap, another Christmas at home.”)... and that they did the song "Other Girls" both nights.
This all makes up for the fact that I'll be out of town next weekend and will miss the

Thursday night I saw Shane Tutmarc play alone on stage opening for Eric (Lashes) Howk of Palmer AK, and Singer Songwriter Ghost Of Kyle Bradford at The Crocodile. It was so magical. The crowd was packed with members from the Lashes, U.S.E., The Long Winters, The Traveling Mercies, Tennis Pro, The Divorce...it was a sing along to say the least- a family reunion. AMAZING!
The Ghost Gallery and I put together a multi medium presentation to show art behind the performances. The whole night was a success! :)

I was with Liz and Kiku in Anacortes, and it was GREAT!
I'd had a couple of makers before the show, so I didn't notice the cold. I hadn't seen Tullycraft in oh so long and I had forgotten how much fun they are!
I stayed over night up there and awoke to a fine blanket of snow!

I went to the High Dive on Friday, and saw Scotland Yard Gospel Choir with Curtains For You. Man oh man, both bands were so much fun. Dancing. In Seattle. Read those last three words again. Good times!

I Almost forgot!
It's seems so long ago, but on Friday I saw Partman Parthorse at the Wild Rose! It was kinds surreal and totally awesome to see Gary strut his stuff in "The Rose".
The Intelligence played also, but I didn't catch any of it.

I had fun singing a whiskey stained impromptu version of Fairytale of New York in between songs with the lead singer of Scotland Yard Gospel Choir. It was also fun dancing with Curtains For You.

OMG, I ended up at this show near Barca. It was a "private party" which basically means these guys who live in the space have been booking some bands and asking for donations - all ages. Coincidentally, it was in an old photo studio of my friend, Maggie Soladay - next to the Annex Theatre and underneath the skateboard shop on 11th and Pike.
Anyway, I made it to this show to catch the tail end of a band who's name I never caught. Then came The Hands with the Whore Moans. At the same time. It was crazy fun. They just alternated between playing a Hands song and then a Whore Moans song while singing along to all of them. More tambourines than you would ever think could be on stage. It was a great idea and I think both bands had a sick time doing it.
Anyway, that was my kick ass show this weekend.

Frito @12 -- that sounds like a DIY-fabulous time. WOW! Does anyone know who the third band was?
