More of my formative years destroyed

So, nothing like a good Christmas surprise. I'm all for them. However, my friend Bloodfist forwarded me this article from the Boston Globe and I died a little.

Let's hop in the way-back machine. Growing up near Boston, I got exposed to the early '90s Boston rock scene, including such luminaries as Juliana Hatfield, Lemonheads, Pixies, Tanya Donelly and, of course, Letters to Cleo. Kay Hanley was a personal favorite, so when I read that Kay Hanley and Stacy Jones, both from Letters to Cleo, are part of the musical team that is bringing us the HANNAH MONTANA/MILEY CYRUS tour, well, I was mortified. OK, sure, you need to make a living, but going from Boston modern rock legends to ... a tween Disney backup singer, well, it just sort of makes me sad.

Just to make me feel a little better, here's Letters to Cleo's "Here & Now" ...

Ugh. I was never a big Letters to Cleo fan, but just on principle I'm totally with you. Disney makes me hostile.

I was a big Letters To Cleo fan in the mid 90s....great semi-alternative female rock, it was fun; but Stacy Jones has lost my respect over the years.

this is just a nail in the coffin. so so sad.

I friggin hate tween disney stars, along with teen nickelodeon stars, and most any other tween stars - damn manufactured pop.

I second what ALLALOM says -- tween Disney stars, feh! I feel your pain, Erik. My condolences for your loss.

Strangely, I heard 'Here and Now' on XM a few days before making the grim discovery of this article. You don't hear much Letters to Cleo, well, anywhere, anymore. It's a shame... I wasn't their hugest fan, but certainly respected their music.

*Cosby: Though I've never karaoked (karaokeeed?) to the song, I too pride myself on being able to say/pronounce the chorus :-)
