While we're on the topic of what we want for the holidays, I've got some more tangible ideas of what would be fun to see under the tree / lit up fern / celebratory coffee table this year.
Forget all the cords and wires and multiple pieces of equipment, with this thing I could plug and go crazy making iPod-listenable MP3s of those 7"s I can't access while on the road. And need I point out it's currently 20% off!?! They also make one for cassette tapes, but my boyfriend swears we already have the technology to do such a thing, we just don't have it hooked up. Hmph.
The other things on my wishlist are a bit less tangible: an irrefutably electable Democrat presidential candidate, a cheap parking space, and world peace. But most of all, I'd love to have you at the Crocodile on December 20th!
What do you all want? I think the super-mega awesome Labrador Records boxset would make a perfect gift for that person you love with good taste (available here).
Might I suggest a poster bundle from Seattle Show Posters? I love the show-based artwork, but his general non-music ones are super stellar. That heart in a jar? The hand puppet? I melt! Note that on all orders placed before December 17, SSP will throw in a free mystery print! And, if you order and mention you read TIG, you might just get a special somethin somethin...
What do you want and what are you surprising your loved ones with?

Perhaps this could suffice in the meantime? This is a great gift idea.

Mmmm. That Labrador box set sounds dreamy. Funny that the review opened with a comparison to Sarah Records. I've been trying to come up with a polite way to tell anyone who is contemplating getting me a gift to instead make a donation to the "Help Marion Afford to Track Down Every Sarah Records Single that She Possibly can Fund." Sadly, I don't think this is an option...

I have the record player that changes things into mp3s, let me just say that it is a HASSLE! You have to record it real time, and then you manually fix the skips and such. I mean, its cool, but I just have no time to do it!

Thanks, Liz!
Yes, I have some not-available-anywhere-else prints that I'll include with orders from TIG readers.
Plus, before December 17 if you can name at least three official imaginaries, I have an awesome bonus prize that I will throw in free with every poster pack order.
In addition, I'm giving away stickers and random good stuff with every order.

I'm hoping for:

The Brit Box: U.K. Indie, Shoegaze, and Brit-Pop Gems of the Last Millennium
As for converting to MP3, I totally recommend the Gemini IKey. Platinum Records in Seattle/Portland carries it. I've been totally happy with mine in coverting vinyl and tapes and being able to choose the quality of MP3 or converting to WAV.

I would be wishing for the new British Sea Power album (out 14th Jan), but with my connections to my Student Newspaper, I've already got it ^^
