Tonight in Seattle:

Portlandia premieres tonight! Discuss...

Tonight is the first episode of Portlandia! There are multiple reasons to be both excited and scared. The show could do the Pacific NW justice and help the rest of the US realize how smart we are for living here, it could give Seattle another reason to tease Portland, or it could make us cringe like the (thankfully) short-lived Love Monkey did.  Either way it turns out, I'm just excited to see Carrie Brownstein in my living room.

One good sign is that The Thermals tweeted from the premiere party in NYC and found out that Andy Samberg, Seth Meyers, and Jorma Taccone are Thermals fans (awesome).

Are you looking forward to it, or nervous?

Feel free to live blog in the comments below as you watch Episode 1! I'm sure most of us will be DVR-ing it (The Thermals are in town tonight after all) - so check back after you've watched it and let us know what you think.

The first episode was on Hulu the week leading up to the premiere. A hoot. I'd never thought of La Brownstein as an actress, much less a comic one, and she is a natural. Fred Armisen is great, of course. Guest stars Steve Buscemi (who gets more than he bargained for when he stumbles into a hippity-dippity bookstore) and Jason Sudekis (as a farmer and cult leader) are clearly having a great time. Presuming the next five episodes maintain the same cuckoo energy, it'll live up to the hype.

We really liked it. My favorite segment is the Adult Hide and Go Seek at the library. Zac Pennington from Parenthetical Girls is in that, just wish he'd had lines. I think the premiere was a solid (appropriately weird) start that shows a lot of potential. It hits Portland, but could also be a little about all Ecotopian alternative culture.

I just watched this episode and loved it. One of my favorite parts is the opening song "The dream of the '90's is alive in Portland." Lots of good lines in that.
I think my favorite little segment was the part in the restaurant where they ask about 20 different questions about the chicken they are ordering, then drive to the farm to give themselves piece of mind.
I'm DVRing this show from now on. I also noticed Zach Pennington from Parenthetical Girls in that adult hide and seek league! I was watching thinking "I've seen that guy in a band a few times before!" I was also waiting for him to have a line...

John in Ballard
The first episode was interesting for sure. Carrie B is amazing! I wonder if it will be like the State with reoccurring sketches throughout the season (will that couple ever order meat from the menu)?

How neat to see a Zach cameo. Does this mean other PDX friends will show up in future episodes? Or maybe they'll import some Oly and SEA friends to fill spots?
