Tonight in Seattle:

Imaginary Mixtape {July 2010}: Summer love's in the air, we're gonna make it ours

This month's imaginary mixtape features a slew of Seattle finest who are taking to the clubs {and some even reuniting!} during the next few weeks, but kicks off with a perfect summertime song by a band that we wish was coming to town.

You can listen to a stream or download the MP3 version of the podcast on the imaginary bandcamp page.

If you are the type that likes to listen to podcasts in itunes, download the .m4a here {with fancy chapters even!} and then open it in your itunes {Thanks to Jigsaw Records for hosting it!}.

Tracklisting: Imaginary Mixtape - July 2010:

Antarctica Takes It - "Try Try Try" from Constellations
As much as we'd like them to, ATI aren't coming town anytime soon. But to fill that void, everyone can read up on them though here and here and here

The Femurs - "Ryan's Song" from the new album, Honeymoon
The Femurs next shows are 8/8 at the Sunset and 8/24 at the fancy new Columbia City Theater.

Goodnight Loving - "We're In A Place" from the album Goodnight Loving
Although the song we feature is from their previous album, Goodnight Loving have a new full-length entitled The Goodnight Loving Supper Club that will be released 7/20 on Dirtnap records. They'll be at the Funhouse on 7/25 with Consignment and guests.

The Model Rockets - "Rock & Roll: The Movie" from the 2002 album Tell The Kids The Cops Are Here
We are so excited that the super group known as The Model Rockets is getting back together for one very special night at the Sunset Tavern on 7/17 with The Small Change and DJ MF Cake {who might be Kurt Block}. This might be the night that the roof is power-pop'd off the Sunset. Good thing it's summer!

Carissa's Wierd - "Die" from the retrospective compilation They'll Only Miss You When You Leave: Songs 1996-2003
There's little more we can say about Carissa's Wierd other than they are one of the most important bands to ever come out of Seattle. We feel incredibly lucky the band happened to be in full swing just as ThreeImaginaryGirls.com got started in 2002, allowing us many opportunities to gush about their perfect mix of evolved constrained melodies and beguiling humility that later gave way to offshoot bands Grand Archives, Band of Horses, S., Sara Cahoone among others. Their one and only reunion show is Friday 7/9 at the Showbox at the Market.

People Eating People - "Rain, Rain" from the album People Eating People
This brilliant debut album releases 7/6 on Control Group. See People Eating People at the Seattle Center / EMP Summersound with Idiot Pilot, Kids and Animals, and Seacats on Thursday 7/8. It's a free, all-ages, outdoor show!

Poison Control Center - "Being Gone" from the album Sad Sour Future
The PCC is making their way from Iowa to Seattle in support of this, their second album and will be at the High Dive on 7/13 with Salmon Thrasher.

Salmon Thrasher - "Battle Summer Time" from What Gives
What a bill! You can see Salmon Thrasher the same night as Poison Control Center: 7/13 at the High Dive.

Brite Futures - "Dog Eared Summer" - part of a summer singles free download series.
Brite Futures, formerly known as Natalie Portman's Shaved Head / NPSH, are headlining a wonderful benefit show for The Vera Project / A Drink For The Kids on 7/17 at Neumo's.

Telekinesis - "Can't Get It Out Of My Head" from the compilation Sing Me To Sleep - Indie Lullabies
This album is chock full of sweet musings from folks that you'd love have you whisper and strum you at bedtime -- and it's all for a good cause: The Valerie Fund, which helps children with cancer and blood disorders. We had a hard time choosing which to feature, but having Michael Benjamin Lerner sing the songs refrain makes us weak in the knees. Maybe Telekinesis will sing it next time they are in Seattle, opening for Teenage Fanclub and Superchunk at the Showbox at the market on 10/14. By the way, there are two editions of this album and I'd highly recommend limited edition that comes with several bonus tracks not available on the regular release or iTunes {buy}.
