On Wednesday, April 21, our Balladeers for the Brokenhearted will take the stage and play their influential 1989 album,Bizarro, it its entirety from "Brassneck" to "Be Honest" and some (fingers crossed) b-sides. {Enter to win a pair of tickets to the show}

To mark this momentous event, I asked some fellow weddoes fans to share theirBizarro story, explaining what their favorite song from the album is and why.

Wedding Present first show ticket

A little research shows that it looks like the Beatnik Filmstars opened up... what a first show!

My first show was Cindi Lauper... which I am totally fine with (except for the Eddie Money opening up part).  I have, at times, wished it was something like REM or Pop Will Eat Itself or New Order. What was your first show... or what do you *wish* it was?

My first was Genesis at the Hartford Civic Center on the Invisible Touch tour in January(?) of 1987. I was pretty in awe of the whole production being that this was my first ever rock show. I think it was actually a perfect first show, as I now had a point of reference for everything else afterwards. I'm glad I'd seen that first as it made me actually appreciate the lower-production shows more. Favorite in the first few years of my concert-going life is probably New Order/PiL/Sugarcubes in 1989, but I don't wish it was my first.
my first show was Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers with The Replacements opening, in 1989. I was 10 years old and sadly had no idea who the Replacements were. It was a pretty amazing first show experience regardless.
I couldn't have asked for a better first show - at the age of 14, I went with my friend's older sister to see R.E.M. and Throwing Muses at Great Woods in Mansfield, MA. 1990, the GREEN tour, so flippin' amazing.
My dad was a musician, so I went to a ton of shows I don't remember. My first really memorable show that was my choice was Sky Cries Mary at Bumbershoot when I was 10 with Seaweed opening (who consequently, I hated).
My first show was the Wedding Present in 1988 in Dublin, they were supporting the George Best album at the time. It still ranks as one of my favorite shows and I've been obsessed with the band ever since. Can't wait for the show in the Corocodile and having already seen them at the start of this Bizarro tour I can safely say everyone is in for a real treat!
