I’ve been a fan of Brooklyn experimental rockers Dirty Projectors for years now, before they caught hold in the indie music community with their most recent (and definitely most accessible) album, Bitte Orca. I first saw them at a tiny club in Texas, and I think they scared the bejeesus out of everyone with their weirdness, but I was absolutely enthralled.
Bitte Orca took their strange angular approach to lo-fi and mixed it up with SUPER catchy melodic hooks and a disjointed dance-feel, which really propelled them into the indie spotlight. Dirty Projectors' brand of wiry rock punctuated with puzzling shifts in song structure is complete addictive, gorgeous and promises to pack a good punch.
This is a don't-miss show at Neumos, this Wednesday, November 4th. Little Wings opens.
Doors 8pm / $15 ADV / 21+ / Tickets on sale at Moe Bar, Tickets West or Rudy's

Yeah I remember commenting after reading the review from that Chop Suey show and being mad at myself for not going.
This should be a fun little adventure-me walking up to all the curvy girls with bearded guys going "Imaginary Shrie, is that you? No?...oh sorry."
I'll be the one guy there without a beard, I should be pretty easy to find too.

So Shrie I think you might have confused my beard comment...I don't have a beard. That's how I'm going to stick out from the rest of the crowd.
I've seen some pics of you ladies (dana, Shrie, Liz, etc.) on the TIG facebook page (I'm one of the 600+ TIG followers), so I think I can find you but I'm not sure exactly what you look like. My last name is Gleason, I guess you can just look me up through that and you can see that I look like a young Bill Murray/Jason Segal. That's not my opinion, just what my friends have told me.
What about Chelsea? She's the one who wrote the review of the last show. I wonder if she's going too?
So yeah, hopefully you bring the brain in a jar, because...well...I just kind of want to see someone walk around Neumo's with a brain in a jar. See you tomorrow, should be a helluva show!
John
