Tonight in Seattle:

Pixies to play Doolittle in its entirety in Seattle

I know I'm not the only imaginary that is getting excited for Black Francis' show at the Triple Door next month and I'm trying to fit in time to see Grand Duchy (Frank Black's project with his wife) during my upcoming weekend trip to Chicago in less than two weeks, but now I have another item to add to the calendar. Pixies are playing their brilliant album Doolittle from beginning to end on a tour, and that tour will include a stop in Seattle.

Spin reports:

Frontman Frank Black tells SPIN.com that the Boston-born quartet will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking release, Doolittle, by playing the album in its entirety in Oakland, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, New York City, and "maybe Montreal" this fall.

There are no dates/places set yet, but I'll post it here when there are.

I think I just decided to get tickets for this. Yes. Yes. and YES.
I have to start by saying I'm a huge Pixies fan. I saw them on the original 'Doolittle' tour in Vancouver B.C. (20 years ago... ouch!) and to be honest, I was disappointed. They were tight, but there was absolutely no attempt to connect with the audience. I think the Pixies kinda go thru the motions live. They made amazing albums, but I don't think anyone would ever call them the most "stellar live experience." I can't imagine that this 20 year anniversary show will be any better than the original... and that's not so good. They've made no attempt to hide the fact that they're doing these recent shows strictly for money. Which is fine... but I don't think I'm very interested.
Holy crap-ola. I grew up listening to The Pixies, knowing they were defunct and was even too young to catch the peak of The Breeders. By the time I got to see Kim Deal tour for Title TK her pink conch shell of a voice sounded like whiskey soaked bar floor and she smacked herself in the head with her accoustic guitar while switching instruments. And I had to make a fake ID for that 18 and over show at The Bowery ballroom. When they did their reunion tour I was thrilled. Yes it was a sobering experience to that my idolized rock stars had no wrists and not much stage prescence, but their songs are so good, I teared up during Caribou. As someone who has a tattooed tit that says number XIII, you can bet I won't miss the Pixies playing Doolittle.
Holy jeez this is exciting news!
Yes. This is cool. I also read that they are already considering a similar Bossanova tour in 2010. Bossanova, being underrated and my favorite Pixies record, presents much more exciting news to me. Plus, they hardly played anything from it during their reunion tours.
