Here I am, just sitting here at work stressing out about end of year deadlines and I decide to click on a link to watch the brand-new Princess Superstar video, for her sure-to-be-a-holiday-classic song, "XMAS SWAGGER." I've long enjoyed PS for her kooky, white girl rap that lives up to her moniker since her debut album, Strictly Platinum (specifically "Blue Beretta"). She's like the Trucks if they were a blonde rapper who lived in NYC and was obsessed with Grand Royal Records.
Anyway... I'm just sitting here, revving my ho ho ho engines with a holiday-themed video and THERE IT IS!!! A PHOTO OF OUR AMAZING INDIE ROCK SANTA IN A PRINCESS SUPERSTAR VIDEO!!!
See it for yourself: The above photo {taken by the lovely and talented Laura Musselman} is in the below video at the 14 second mark.
It's quick and all, and I'm sure the Princess Superstar machine is such a lo-fi operation that they didn't know who or how to get proper rights to use it {sorry John and Laura}; but in case there's anyone out there who's wondering, we can give you the hook-up to the folks who made this amazing photo happen! Email us, or just meet them at tomorrow night's Imaginary Holiday Party!

I know... I can't pick a second favorite part of the video (the first favorite being the appearance of our very own SANTA JOHN RODERICK!!!)

Whether you're ready or not, the holidays are upon us! Seattle is gearing up to be softly aglow as neighbors light up the block with LEDs and the flavors of peppermint, ginger spice and eggnog infuse themselves everywhere. But, best of all, it means it's time for the Imaginary Holiday Party!
This year's shin-dig will be Friday, December 16 at the Columbia City Theater and feature all the important elements of a fabulous holly jolly time:
***MUSIC!***
-> Eef Barzelay (of Clem Snide) will beautifully croon poignant vignettes against a backdrop of holiday melancholy.
-> Seattle supergroup Mal de Mer will dirty it up with their catchy, no holds barred post-garage-pop. With members of Slender Means, The Divorce, Lila, the Amazombies, and Ms Led / The Redwood Plan, you know it's gonna be good.
-> Heligoats come to us by way of Bellingham and bring a road-trip-worthy stash of exuberantly bittersweet songs.
***SANTA RODERICK!***
As is the imaginary tradition, Santa John Roderick will be on hand to spread holiday cheer with amazing photographer Laura Musselman ready to take your photo on his lap. Yes, you read that right. You can sit on Indie-Rock Santa's lap and get your photo taken by an amazing photographer like Ms. Musselman. We do our best to make your holiday wishes come true!

We know, we know. You've probably still got a bowl of Halloween candy you're polishing off. But the holidays are fast approaching, and we didn't want to go one more minute without telling you about our Imaginary Office Party! Grab a Sharpie, get your calendar out, and put a big ol' star on Thursday, December 16th -- you're not going to want to miss this. Promise.
Who: your shiny happy friends over at Three Imaginary Girls, along with the fine folks of Columbia City Theater, present...
What: The Imaginary Office Party! A night of music and all-around awesomeness featuring The Tripwires, The Young Evils, Jose Bold, and a super-secret second act that is going to knock your socks off!
Where: Columbia City Theater, 4916 Rainier Avenue S.
When: Thursday, December 16, 2010 -- doors at 7p
Why: Because we like you! No, really. The night is all about giving thanks to the lovely people we work with all year, and to help raise awareness about Teen Feed while we're at it.
On top of the rad bands we've got scheduled to play, everyone's favorite roots-and-soul expert Greg Vandy will be spinning in the Bourbon Bar from 7-9p to help us get our prefunk on. And it wouldn't be a party without Santa John Roderick, who has graciously agreed to offer up his lap for photo ops with the esteemed Ms. Laura Musselman during the earlier portion of the evening. Can somebody pinch us, please?
There is one little catch to the night: there will only be a limited number of tickets for sale. We'll announce here on TIG {soon!} when they're available for purchase -- just check back often and keep your eyes peeled for the link! The event is 21+ / $15, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to our friends over at Teen Feed.
We'll have a pretty poster and an official press release coming your way lickety split -- so stay tuned for more details!
{Endless thanks to Laura for the photo above from our 2009 party -- there's more where that came from over in our imaginary flickr pool!}

Tonight is the night!
We would be so honored to have you join us at the Imaginary Winter Holiday Spectacular tonight {December 23} at Chop Suey!
There's a lot of exciting stuff going on, including but not limited to:

Only two days until the Imaginary Winter Holiday Spectacular{December 23 at Chop Suey}!!!
We have a lot of exciting stuff planned for the night. Performances by five of our favorite bands, amazingly robust raffle prize offerings, The Stranger's David Schmader as emcee... and one tradition that's carried us through the last five years of Imaginary Spectaculars: Indie Rock Santa John Roderick.
Long Winters' sweetness J. Rod will be in the house from 8p-11p with the amazingly talented Laura Musselman, who will be on hand to take your photo as you whisper your wishlist in his ear. The photos are free and we'll have them on the imaginary flickr page available for you to download print-ready photos for next year's holiday card.

What are you doing this Saturday? Really? That sounds awesome. Me too, I love those guys. But listen, before you do that, why don't you pop in over at Solo Bar in Lower Queen Anne? Our very own super-talented Laura Musselman, live music photographer and imaginary contributor, will be celebrating the opening night of her show, give me a moment. It starts at 8pm and is undoubtedly going to be the perfect start for your night out.
You can read more about Laura's talent and history over here, check out her website here, and dig on a performance by John Roderick from her exclusive shoot at the not-quite-finished Crocodile Cafe here.
We'll see you at Solo!
