Happy Birthday to Three Imaginary Girls! Come celebrate with us

Happy Birthday TIG!If you were to ask us eight years ago what this lil website would become, we'd never have believed that it would blossom to it's full roasted and toasted version of today. It remains a daily honor and privilege to meet folks who enjoy the site and to work on it every day with a team of amazing and inspiring team of imaginaries.

Wonderfully, even though things have grown beyond just three ladies closing up Top Pot on Summit most nights, so much has stayed the same -- beyond just the fact that there's a new Carissa's Wierd release and we still get giddy when David Gedge comes to town. There continues to be so many great bands bubbling up from the clubs in the Pacific Northwest that we get to tell you about and I am continually floored every time someone mentions they have read threeimaginarygirls.com.

Although tradition deems this the year we treat ourselves to a set of bronze bookends or swanky bed linens, we would like to celebrate it with a hearty blast of all things imaginary.

Come celebrate this monumental birthday with us!

Jump into the barrel of imaginary celebratory fun Wednesday, June 16 at The Moe Bar {next door to Neumos} as we take over the DJ booth, become bartenders, and toast a plenty:

1. Three Imaginary Girls was voted Seattle’s Best Online Presence - Local Events by the Seattle Weekly
Oh how honored and humbled we are.

2. Three Imaginary Girls turns a happy and blissful eight years old on June 10th

3. SIFF is wrapping up and we've devoured every delicious drop of it.
This is a perfect time to fill up our Netflix queue with indie film recommendations!

But, more than anything else, we'd like to raise a glass to our very own imaginary ChrisB.

Crafts + New Indie-Pop = The Imaginary Crafty Listening Party with Math & Physics Club

Math and Physics Club Craft Party

It doesn't take a lot make us smile. Just sprinkle us with indie-pop, new records, tasty beverages (caffeinated and otherwise), and time with friends and we'll grin from ear to ear. Add in hot glue guns, crochet needles and glitter and we're over the moon!

That's why we here at Three Imaginary Girls have put together a new imaginary affair that combines all of these loves into one monthly get together: The Imaginary Crafty Listening Party!

{We're working on a snazzier name, so feel free to suggest below or chew it over with us at the meet up.}

Join us Sunday, May 23 from 1p-3p at Neptune Coffee as we debut the brand new Math and Physics Club record, I Shouldn't Look As Good As I Do (it doesn't release until June!). Bring your bag of crafty projects to work on (or just crafty ideas to mull over with our craftier friends/experts) and we'll sip, listen to one of our favorite records (we've had a sneak listen and it's pretty magical) and get our inner Martha on.

We'll have a couple Math and Physics Club-inspired giveaways up for grabs and a beverage special thanks to Neptune Coffee. It's all ages, but Neptune does offer wine and beer for sale to those of us with IDs.

Recommended for this weekend: Jigsaw Records Grand Opening!

You know how some records are just impossible to find in stores, due to small distribution and tiny awesome labels? Well, Chris Mac does too. And that's why he decided to open Jigsaw Records (5459 Leary Ave NW, 2nd floor, right above Resolution Audio). "We deal directly with bands and labels around the world (many of which have little or no distribution) to help them get more exposure", says Mac, also the creator of the wonderful indie pop haven Indiepages.

Mac's got the tiny store (14x14) stuffed to the gills with only the highest quality indie pop and rock records, cds, and tapes, and with his encyclopedic knowledge of indie pop is the type of guy who loves making suggestions, even to the point of putting descriptor stickers on every new release he carries (you know, so if you're looking for twee pop, you don't accidentally buy a pop punk album).

Not only is he supporting DIY music, but the shop itself follows a strict DIY aesthetic, with wonderful hand-built shelves, made with love, carrying your new favorite records.

The shop opens this Saturday, March 13th with the greatest possible opening party imaginable, featuring the first Math and Physics Club show in 2 years! Also appearing will be the fabulous D. Crane of BOAT. The show starts at 7 and is all ages and free! Come browse records and walk away with a new favorite band or five.

Countdown to our imaginary SXSW sendoff -- only three days left!

Mash Hall and Fences are the first bands on the bill this Friday at Neumo's, and trust us when we tell you: you're going to want to be there early enough to catch both of their sets. Seriously.

Having gone through some positive shake-ups as of late -- Mash Hall with a moniker change, and Fences with some rad additions to their lineup -- these two local favorites are polishing up their best shoes and bringing us a taste of what they've got in store for Austin (and the rest of 2010). Make sure you come check them both out this Friday -- and in the meantime, here's a peek at some recent creative output from these two local favorites.

{PS: Tickets are only $10 and they're going fast -- take advantage of the pre-show price and pick yours up today!}
