Einstürzende Neubauten “Palast Der Republik” DVD Review

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds gnarly-charming guitarist Blixa with his own legendary band, Einstürzende Neubauten (which I will never learn to pronounce), have a new DVD available. For the uninitiated, Einstuerzende Neubauten isn’t some half-assed solo project. A long-running, boundaries-shattering collective that used actual noise from materials found in scrapyards along with more traditional instrumentation, this live reunion DVD was filmed in the same year as the Cave set, and is just as lean, mean, and on fire. (Don’t expect the apocalyptic pop to be as hummable as the tunes on ‘Abattoir Blues’ though.)

Unlike the somewhat spare BAD disc, this release comes loaded with extras, including unreleased songs and fun features. From the atonal but utterly rhythmic opening track “Haus Der Luege” onward, Einstuerzende Neubauten defy you to pigeonhole them as frivolous texture-makers, crafting compelling frameworks from oodles of sonic wire and night wind.

I like what you wrote about Einstuerzende Neubauten's 1st public DVD. Their name is even hard to spell much less say!

I encourage you to feature a review on their new album coming out this November, called "Alles Weider Offen" As a long time follower and supporter I was priviledged to watch its creative gestration and I promise its going to be great!
